Renegade Cycles is a longtime part of the fabric of Lane Cove, providing parts and servicing, information and advice for many years now. I've found without fail fast, proficient and very well priced service, both in maintenance and repair or simply with product enquiries or requests. Indeed, on the rare occasion a part as needed to be ordered it was the fastest turn around I've seen from start to completion.

Bought a 'new' bike (apparently ridden once), late model. Within 20 minutes of riding.. the pedal snaps off and I nearly end up children free for life. Have to walk the bike back to the shop.. no genuine apology or customer service just a flat.. must be a manufactor fault. At least I got my money back. Buyer beware on their 'brand new' not not new bikes.

I took my first mountain bike for a service with Renegade Cycles back in 1995. That service probably saved my life. I didn't buy my bike from Renegade as I didn't know of them at the time. Instead, I went to a "supposedly" top of the line bike shop in the city and bought a new (expensive) bike where I was promised free servicing, after sales care etc. Well, when it came to the first service they kept my bike for 2 weeks and when I eventually got it back I could tell that it had not been touched. The gears were still not working properly and it still had that same clunking sound in the front which was most pronounced when cornering. I was angry about the condition of the bike and their after sales care but I felt it would be useless to argue the point. They had broken my trust and I now wanted a second opinion - plus, I couldn't afford to give them my bike for another 2 weeks. I started looking around and found Renegade Cycles - I had heard good things about their servicing and it wasn't far from where I lived. I dropped the bike off in the morning and the mechanic called the same day to tell me my bike was ready but he wanted to speak with me before I left the shop. When I arrived to get my bike the mechanic wasn't very happy and wanted to know where I bought the bike. He was so angry he said he was going to call them about what he had found. It turned out that the bike had not been assembled properly and the head stem was only hanging on by a thread - hence the clunking sound when cornering. He showed me how close I was to having the head stem come off on a corner or large bump - not good, considering that I was mostly riding on the road during my 30km commute to work. I was very grateful to have the problems fixed so quickly and to have a bike shop that I could trust. I kept the bike for 2 years, getting it serviced with Renegade Cycles and then went on to buy 2 new mountain bikes from them in 1997. We continued to use Renegade Cycles over those early years but now live on the Central Coast and it's a bit far to go. I still subscribe to their newsletter and they always have interesting stuff to do and lots of good information. I paid them a visit not long after they moved to their new shop and nothing much has changed - the same friendly staff and still full of useful information and tips. As soon as I have time I will do their bicycle maintenance course (hope it's still on offer) as it is something that I always wanted to do and these guys really know their stuff! I thoroughly recommend Renegade Cycles. Buy a bike from them and get it serviced there and you will have a lifetime of cycling fun and above all...you will have a safe bike to ride! Happy cycling!

Great bike shop, friendly and very knowledgeable. I have purchased bikes, equipment and parts here and had various services/bits of work done to my bikes. The work is always top notch.
