In conclusion: Do not shop here. I know we want to protect our bookshops but in this case we're obliged to protect the customer from sheer bitterness and bile. Plus Therese/Theresa's particually obscured badge read "Franchise" something. Could it be 'Franchise Manager'? *shudder*

The staff are friendly, I only go there to browse the discounted kids books.

So, uh, still can't quite believe how appalling my experience was at Lane Cove today. Went in to exchange a couple of books with zero greeting from either staff member. Decided on my books, took them to the till and said I'd like to do an exchange. A woman named Therese/Theresa was hunched over a computer and grudgingly stirred herself with words to the effect of 'We'll see.' She inspected the books and declared one of them damaged, although I couldn't see which one she meant as she brandished them at me and I'm pretty sure one of the ones I'd taken off her shelves was in worse nick. She said I could only exchange one of my books (they didn't stock the other) and I said maybe I could just get a gift card (had a bit of a moment because I'd was sure the books I'd chosen weren't equal to the price of the ones for exchange and then the amount of the exchange changed and my mental math went in the wrong directione...) Anyway, I very clearly said the wrong thing on top of my initial sin of wanting to exchange two VERY common books with a gift receipt that had been purchased at a different store and which I already owned. Rather than politely explaining that this was against policy, Therese/Theresa scoffed as if I should somehow know that this particular Dymocks didn't do that. Mea culpa.

In the end Therese/Theresa exchanged my book, I paid a little extra for the replacements with the pleasure of some more attitude about the $1.99 "which equates to $2." The scene wrapped with her proclaiming "Those are the rules" and me replying "Rules are one thing but spitting them at your customers is another."

Deeply unpleasant owner or manager - the woman who seems to run the place has been rude moe than once. I prefer to buy my books in brick-and-mortar stores and am forced to shop at competitors elsewhere. Despite this, there is a table at the door selling older airport novels and bestsellers, novelty gift books and cookery titles at cheaper prices bargains.

This kids book store is located in Lane Cove Market Square. It sells children's books at a good price.

"Yeah, yeah, that's your interpretation." I think you can guess who's line that was, voiced over my objection so that I'm surprised she even heard it. What does it mean? I haven't the foggiest. Afterall bad manners and non-existent service of this stature really don't need any interpretaton.

Staff aren't very helpful and have a rather small selection.
